Students from Sichuan University learned the trends of Contemporary Russian Literature

The center of Additional Educational Programs in the Field of Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL) at St Petersburg University has completed the new course "Contemporary Russian Literature." The course is taught in English, and its first participants were students from Sichuan University, one of the most prestigious universities in China.

The scientific supervisor and developer of the course, Andrey Dmitrievich Stepanov, emphasized the uniqueness of "Contemporary Russian Literature" program that reveals the literary process, which has not acquired stable conceptual forms yet and still has not been the subject of study in specialized university programs.

In this way, not only did the students learn a lot about contemporary Russian literature and the works of renowned authors such as Zakhar Prilepin, Roman Senchin, Vladimir Sorokin, Victor Pelevin, Boris Akunin, and Tatyana Tolstaya, but they also became familiar with cultural trends and peculiarities of the Russian mentality.

The students from Sichuan University highly appreciated the work done and emphasized the relevance of the knowledge gained. The course participant Yan Zhihang noted the availability of information submission; while Wu Shihan said that she had gained a unique experience and would welcome more lectures by Professor A.D. Stepanov. Wang Lanxin, who expressed her gratitude for the course, said that she had learnt a lot for two weeks, and would like to see more e- books on this topic.
