Winter School is an educational and cultural program that will immerse you in the magical world of the Russian language and culture. It will introduce you to one of the most beautiful cities in the world — St. Petersburg. In just 2 weeks you will master Russian communication skills will be mastered in just 2 weeks, stroll along the winter streets of the city, learn its legends, get to see the most beautiful corners of the Russian North, learn to solve Russian riddles and sing merry songs about the Russian winter!
The leading teachers of St Petersburg University organize the educational process. We apply modern techniques to make learning fun and productive. The cultural part of the program includes participation in interesting excursions (in English for groups at levels A0 to A2 and in Russian for those at level B1), walks through historical sites, as well as round tables and meetings in a conversation club with native-speakers - students of St Petersburg University, who will help you to overcome the language barrier and communicate with confidence. You will acquire unforgettable impressions and new knowledge will stay with you forever.
The program is aimed for groups (organized by foreign educational institutions) of foreign trainees from 10 persons and more. Groups are formed in accordance with level of Russian language proficiency.
The winter school is available in two formats: offline and online study. You can make choice of the preferred format and enjoy the winter atmosphere from any place in the world!

LEARNING OUTCOMES
- standard certificate of SPbU is issued;

Offline format:
- Comprehensive lessons in practical Russian;
- Excursions and walks around the main sights of Saint Petersburg. The excursion program can be adjusted at the request of the customer. Entrance tickets to some museums are to be paid by the students themselves;
- Communication with the Russian native-speakers - students of SPbU.
Comfortable accommodation in one of the dormitories of St. Petersburg State University. The cost of accommodation varies from RUB 210 to RUB 650/ day (subject to change). Accommodation is not included in the tuition fee and is paid separately.

The fee includes training, excursion program, entrance test, transfer from the airport and back, educational materials, migration support.
Online format:
- Interactive Russian language lessons are conducted in the form of the game with modern techniques and computer technologies applied. With the help of experienced teachers the students are introduced to the national and cultural traditions of Russians, learn Russian songs and even write poetry;
- Extensive cultural and excursion program that incorporates computer technologies. Upon request, it is possible to include attractions from other regions of Russia in the program.

19 500 ₽.
Fee includes training, excursion program, entrance test, educational materials in the electronic form.

FAQ
Invitation and Visa
Yes, it is possible in the presence of a study or work visa.
To participate in the program, you need to fill out the application form on our website. You will also need a high-quality copy of your passport.
An invitation for obtaining a study visa is executed within 20 working days from the date of documents acceptance by the Directorate for Migration Affairs of the Russian Federation Ministry of the Interior.
A copy of your invitation will be sent to your e-mail address. If required to provide the staff members of the Consulate of the Russian Federation with the original of your invitation, it will be sent to you by post.
After receiving an invitation to study, you must apply for a study visa in your country. For detailed information, please refer to the website of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (MFA Russia).
Documents
It is a document confirming a foreign citizen’s entry into the Russian Federation. A migration card is necessary for registration at the place of residence.
The notification of migration registration must be provided within 7 working days.
A foreign citizen entering the Russian Federation is required to obtain a voluntary medical insurance (VMI) policy. A medical insurance policy can be issued by any insurance company, both in your country or in Russia.
In case you have a multi-entry visa, the last day of the contract is the last day of residence in Russia.
If you have a single-entry visa for a period up to 90 days, and the duration of the contract is less than this period, you must leave the territory of the Russian Federation within a period not exceeding 3 working days.
- A certificate in the established format from SPbU (upon preliminary application, a certificate with grades and ECTS can be attached).
Studying
Winter School can be attended by the foreign citizens non-native speakers of Russian. Attendance is limited to organized groups (from 10 persons) coming from the same educational institution.
The duration of study is 2 weeks, 72 hours (60 hours of face-to-face learning and 12 hours of independent work).
Schedule of classes is 5 days a week:
- Russian language classes;
- Lunch;
- Excursion program (in English for groups at levels A0 to A2 and in Russian for those at level B1).
The fee for a course is 28 000 ₽:
- The cost for offline format includes: training, excursion program, entrance testing, transfer from the airport and back, educational materials, migration support.
- The cost for online format includes: training, excursion program, entrance testing, transfer from the airport and back, educational materials, migration support.
You can pay for educational services under the program in rubles:
- In cash at the SPbU payment office
- With any Russian bank card in the app on your mobile phone
- Non-cash payment through the SPbU payment system

Excursions around Saint Petersburg and St Petersburg University are part of the curriculum. The excursion program can be adjusted at the request of the customer. Entrance tickets to some museums are to be paid by the students themselves.
Students of the program are provided with accomodation in one of the SPbU dormitories. The cost of accommodation ranges from 210 to 650 rubles per day (subject to change). Accommodation is available for an additional fee.

Программа прекрасная! Восхищаюсь высочайшим профессионализмом преподавателей, которые за две недели так много дали студентам. Ребята не только вспомнили грамматику, пополнили свой словарный запас, получили интенсивную разговорную практику, но и узнали столько интересного о русской культуре: о праздниках, традициях, сказках. Отличные визуальные материалы помогли ребятам все лучше понять и усвоить. А после занятий мы наслаждались захватывающими рассказами экскурсоводов. Экскурсии необычайно познавательные и красивые! Сначала я беспокоилась о моём русском языке, но я получила много знаний о России, которые я не могла узнать из самообразования. Преподаватели были очень дружелюбные. Они часто задавали нам студентам вопросы и мы думали и отвечали в сотрудничестве друг с другом. На экскурсии экскурсоводы показали нам города, музеи, ёлку и так далее. Мы тоже играли в загадки и сделали снеговика или снежинки. Я невольно забывала, что я была в Японии, потому что Зимняя школа была очень прекрасной!
