Open Lesson "The Symphony of Life"

The traditional open lesson "The Symphony of Life" on the liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege, took place on February 10 th , 2022, at the Center of Additional Educational Programs in the Field of Russian as a Foreign Language of SPbU.

144 foreign learners studying Russian took part in the lesson and got a unique opportunity to learn about the city residents’ courage and strength of mind from the granddaughters and great- granddaughters of the hero defenders of the Blockaded Leningrad.

The open lesson was given by Lyudmila Nikolaevna Panko, the Assistant Professor of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and the Methods of Its Teaching, Liana Balabanova, the second year student of the Faculty of Arts (specialization – Art of Singing, Uzbekistan), and Natalya Mikhaylovna Saar, the Assistant Professor of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and the Methods of Its Teaching.

Natalya Mikhaylovna told the story of her family and performed the song "For That Guy" by M. Fradkin and R. Rozhdestvensky. Liana Balabanova, whose great- grandfather was Umer Setmitovich Balabanov, the defender of Leningrad, and Su Hueyu, the student of the Faculty of Arts (China), sang the song "Goodbye, Boys" by B. Okudzhava.

Olga Igorevna Popova, the Director of the Center of Additional Educational Programs in the Field of Russian as a Foreign Language, shared a story of her family and emphasized that "today’s open lesson became an important reminder of the price for freedom and peace".

At the end of the lesson, the feature film "The Leningrad Symphony" by the film director Zakhar Agranenko was demonstrated and discussed.
