The main objective of the program is to help trainees improve their level of Russian language proficiency, develop their speaking skills in the professional field of tourism, and gain regional knowledge about Russia, Russian culture, and St. Petersburg.

As a result of the training, a trainee should:
— learn/improve the basic phonetic and graphic-orthographic rules of the Russian language, the elementary foundations of the grammatical system of the Russian language, learn the lexical minimum provided by the educational program:
a) in the field of speaking: be able to start and maintain a dialogue; formulate and ask a question, make a monologue statement within the framework of the topics provided by the educational program;
b) in the field of writing: be able to compose a written monologue statement within the framework of the topics provided by the educational program;
c) in the field of reading: to be able to read and understand the texts based on the studied language material, within the framework of the topics provided by the educational program;
d) in the field of listening: to listen and understand the main content of the audio-text within the framework of the topics provided by the educational program;
— expand/deepen the knowledge of the grammar of the Russian language, expand the vocabulary, improve listening and pronunciation skills:
— possess the information of a country-specific nature to the extent provided by the framework of the program.
